Why the system stopped

J. Reed · Polaris

It did not stop. That was the finding. It continued with a face that looked like health.

If your shutdown test only checks for drama, you will certify the wrong machines.

Pattern — holdover disagreement days

A fictional holdover log lists days when two references disagreed. The disagreements recur on a fixed spacing.

Objective Enter the spacing in days between disagreements.

Clues

  • Disagreement days (campaign day numbers): 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
  • Noise days (ignore): 5, 12, 19
  • Polaris teaching note: disagreement is surfaced, not averaged away.
Hint

Subtract consecutive disagreement days.

Second hint

10 − 3 = 7.

Accessible path (no interaction required)

The disagreement days advance by 7 each time (3, 10, 17, 24, 31).

Motion: none required. Status updates are text-only. Prefer the accessible path above if you use reduced motion or keyboard-only navigation.
